openSermo is an independent news network dedicated to producing and distributing new aged news content (visit WSYK.tv for an example). from our humble roots at the University of Florida (see here), we have been operating successfully for over a year and just moved our headquarters to San Francisco. we are currently in the process of scaling openSermo to become a leading content producer and distributor targeting Gen Y.
in order to reach our goals openSermo needs to attract and retain talented and ambitious individuals. openSermo was founded by students, and that is precisely why we are turning back to students to fill the current internship opportunities detailed below.
PUBLIC RELATIONS SPECIALIST - INTERNSHIP
the public relations specialist will be involved with contacting national and local media outlets as well as bloggers around the world, with the goal of building relationships while spreading openSermo’s mission and content.
detailed responsibilities
- devising unconventional methods for attracting attention
- drafting press releases
- developing relationships with student journalists nationwide
- developing relationships with global bloggers
- developing relationships with national journalists
minimum requirements
- available 10 hours per week
- people person with sharp communication skills
- extremely ambitious and energetic
- good at building rapport with strangers
- experience drafting formal letters and press releases
- must be web savvy
